MGA Times – December 2024: Variety Booklet 2025, Conference Tickets & Competition

The December 2024 edition of MGA Times focuses on preparation for the year ahead, with the release of the 2025 Variety Booklet, updates on the upcoming MGA Conference, and details of an exciting competition for members.

Enclosed with this issue is the 2025 Variety Booklet, listing the recommended first-choice maize varieties for the coming season. Members who need details of second-choice varieties can request these directly from the MGA office, and non-members can purchase a copy for £30. The booklet is a key resource for growers planning their cropping strategies.

This issue also highlights the 2025 MGA Conference, taking place over two days on 11–12 February. Day one includes farm visits to the South West Dairy Development Centre and Steanbow Farms, while day two at the Bath and West Showground features a packed programme of expert speakers and 17 trade stands. Topics range from trials results, carbon management, and sustainable farming practices to advances in technology and soil health. Tickets are available now via Eventbrite, with options to attend one or both days.

In addition, the MGA Council announces a cover cropping and undersowing photo competition, with a prize of £500 worth of seed sponsored by Grainseed. Winners will be announced at the February conference.
