What our Members Say
By Growers, For Growers
As a subscription funded organisation the MGA continually strives to meet our members needs however rather than take our word for it we would urge you to read the following supportive testimonials from prominent industry figures and MGA members.

As suppliers of key agricultural equipment to the sector, it is important to get close to our customers, the maize farmers, and we find that the MGA and their informative conference is a really useful way of speaking to them.

As a leading supplier of agronomy advice, seed, and crop protection products, Agrovista UK sees the MGA as an excellent source of independent, practical advice for maize growers across the UK. With the growth of the energy maize sector in particular continuing to attract new growers, the independent trials data and the annual conference hosted by the MGA are a great source of information for new and existing growers alike. The MGA conference is an excellent networking opportunity and a chance to keep up to date with the latest maize research and thinking.

Any organisation which is farmer led has a strong reputation and credibility behind it, and as a key crop protection and service provider to the UK maize industry, Bayer is delighted to work with the MGA. It is an excellent forum for independent maize research trials facilitating unbiased work to be conducted with products from all manufacturers to generate independent results, and it does help to promote a Bayer product which has been tested by the MGA. We enjoy attending the annual MGA Conference to network within the industry, hear the latest results from MGA research and listen to impactful presentations.

We have grown maize on a small scale for many years without being members, and joined as our acreage increased for feeding our biogas plant. We find we recoup the value of the membership fee (think of it as a fraction of a trailer load of maize!) after a short while at the first event of the year we attend. We find that the nitrogen prediction service saves us considerably, and appreciate the advice on variety choice.
The MGA is small enough to be able to know people, but large enough to have access to excellent technical support; we wish we had joined years ago.

Working with the Maize Growers Association and its members gives ourselves, as innovative maize seed breeders, unparalleled information about maize grower needs and how the market is developing. The MGA Conference is both interesting and a great targeted way of speaking to customers old and new.

My journey with the MGA has taken me from producing the best quality maize silage for my dairy herd to building a biogas plant that runs purely on maize silage.
The MGA recognises the need for research and development in the biogas field and has put trials in place to meet this new exciting opportunity for maize production in the UK.
The MGA is run by 'Growers for Growers' so its practical approach with timely newsletters makes me feel always in touch with the latest techniques and thinking with respect to quality cost effective maize growing.

Connecting with our customers and their advisors at the right time and place is very important. That’s why the Maize Growers Association and its conference are so valuable: they give us the opportunity to engage directly with maize farmers, showcase our range of cultivators and seed drills, and gather valuable insights into how the market is evolving.

We value our relationship with the Maize Growers Association (MGA) for its collaborative spirit and shared commitment to advancing sustainable, high-performing cropping systems. Their technical insights and grower-led knowledge exchange align well with our own values at Dyson Farming. Through Dyson Farming Research, we’re proud to contribute to and benefit from the MGA’s platform - helping to trial innovative approaches, share findings, and support continuous improvement across the sector.

Frontier Agriculture and the Maize Growers Association are very aligned with technical and research-based advice alongside the decision making that comes with it. This is why we attend the MGA conference to learn about the latest research on maize and to ensure this work can continue, both Frontier and IntraCrop, one of our subsidiary companies, have committed to the sponsorship of the MGA in order to support the ongoing independent trial work and the future MGA conferences on how best to grow and manage maize crops here in the UK.

At Kingshay, we value our work with the MGA because, as a farmer-led organisation, it places real world challenges at the core of its research. The MGA’s field trials are particularly valuable, providing practical, independent data that helps drive informed on-farm decisions. This aligns closely with our own mission to support dairy farmers through evidence-based livestock solutions. This year, we were proud to sponsor the MGA’s annual conference, a fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, exchange ideas, and stay updated on the latest industry developments.

As a maize seed breeder, Limagrain enjoys many benefits of working with the MGA including agronomic advice, independent costings and crop updates in the growing season, and we worked closely with them on recent lobbying activity. This year’s MGA Conference was particularly good and highly topical, but these occasions are also particularly useful for networking, and making contacts with individuals and organisations that we want to work with in the future.

As we move into an era of tightening global commodity stocks, the ability to produce more from our own resources will be increasingly important. In the right situation maize can have a key role to play in this, whether it be forage maize, grain maize or one of the other variants of the crop. Growing the crop to the best of our ability and to the highest standards of environmental practice are key requisites for producing a low cost, high quality crop that meets the requirements of the final user.
The MGA continues to be the leading provider of unbiased, sensible and pragmatic advice for maize growers and does so at a very low cost. The combination of timely mailings, telephone support, farm visits and demonstrations provide valuable advice which has benefitted our business considerably over the years – I would not want to be without it.

For a company that specialises in producing biomethane from crop feedstocks including maize, Future Biogas benefits hugely from the MGA which allows us to have access to high quality and most importantly, independent, information we can rely on in order to help maximise the sustainability and financial returns for our maize growers. It is important that growers have access to independent information and even more valuable when the organisation producing it is farmer led, and when the information received is topical, relevant and most importantly useful on farm! The trials done by the MGA on maize including different products such as biostimulants and key topics such as improving nitrogen use, help fill a gap for cutting-edge trials in forage crops which otherwise may not exist outside of commercial trials. We have used the results of a number of these to improve our growing practices. The annual conference is important for us to attend as the diverse range of expert speakers helps us gain a better understanding of topical issues and also to network with other likeminded people across agriculture, all united by maize whatever the end market.

As a suppliers of oxygen barrier film that blocks the entry of oxygen into silage, we find the MGA a great organisation to share information on best practices and to meet farmers and the key players both in dairy farming and biogas production. The MGA conference is focussed and informative and the associated farm tour is really useful.

The services and information provided by the MGA over many years has proved to be vital to the growers of Energy crop into Severn Trent Green Power Ltd. Farmer growers into the STGP AD business need the most up to date research at their fingertips, along with reminders of how to grow the most economic and cost effective maize crops to the highest environmental standards as determined in a modern day crop contract.

BSPB are not members of the Maize Growers’ Association, however through our own members representation on the Council, the MGA help support the Maize Eyespot (Kabatiella resistance testing) nursery that Niab grow and organise on our behalf to be able to publish ratings on the Maize Descriptive Lists; and in recognition of the funding they have kindly given to support the testing since it was started, their logo appears on the published Descriptive Lists.

As a farmer growing maize for anaerobic digestion, the dairy and beef industry, as well as grain maize, I need the data, talking points and advice which MGA give to all its members. The field trials run by the MGA help me to increase my yield and look at the many options to improve the crop and cost of production. Grain maize was not really talked about in the farming sector but with the help of the MGA and farmers such as ourselves, the sector is thriving. I enjoy the MGA conference as you get to meet like-minded people in the industry.

Creedy Associates Ltd has a proud 30-year history of working with the Maize Growers Association (MGA). We greatly value the MGA’s independence, grower-led structure, and single-crop focus—all of which ensure that its research and development programme produces unbiased, evidence-based findings, whether positive or negative. We believe the MGA plays a vital role in highlighting the many inherent benefits of maize, including its low input requirements, reduced carbon footprint, and its value as an excellent feedstock for both livestock and biogas production. Through strong relationships with key stakeholders and a commitment to practical trials and demonstration projects, the MGA also tackles the challenges associated with maize production head-on.

Since its inception, the MGA has been able to provide one of the only truly independent source of information. In this highly volatile market for feeds, information can quickly become out of date, and hence can easily be taken out of context.
I feel that MGA membership is a must, and you can expect payback on very few acres of maize. I have a special interest in Grain Maize and I feel that this crop has an exciting future. We also seem to be experiencing some of the possible benefits of climate change and crops such as maize will continue to form an increasingly important part of the rotation.
