The January 2025 edition of MGA Times brings the final updates ahead of the eagerly awaited MGA Annual Conference, now only a few weeks away. This two-day event, taking place on 11–12 February 2025, promises to be an unmissable gathering for UK maize growers and the wider industry.
Day one will focus on practical, on-farm learning with visits to the South West Dairy Development Centre and Steanbow Farms in Somerset. Day two moves to the Bath and West Showground, where a full day of talks, trade stands, and networking is planned.
This issue introduces the 2025 speaker line-up, including experts such as Becky Willson (Farm Carbon Toolkit), Hannah Baldwin (Ecometric), Max Hetto (sustainable farmer, Germany), Jon Myhill and Neil Groom (MGA trials and research), Jack Harris (precision spot-spraying technology), Stephen Webster (Environment Agency), and Julian Little (agricultural communications). Topics will range from sustainable farming and soil health to cutting-edge technology and the latest MGA research results.
There is also a reminder about the MGA photo competition, which celebrates the best in cover cropping and undersowing practices. The winner, announced at the conference, will receive £500 worth of seed sponsored by Grainseed. Entries close on Monday 3rd February.
Tickets for the event are selling fast, and this edition includes links and QR codes for easy booking through Eventbrite, along with details of the confirmed 22 trade stands that will be exhibiting during the conference.
