The July 2025 edition of MGA Times brings details of key upcoming events and news for members, including open breakfasts, a major summer maize event, and plans for the 2026 conference.
MGA Open Breakfasts return this summer, offering members and guests the opportunity to visit trial sites, see the latest research in action, and enjoy an informal morning discussion over breakfast. Dates include 6th August at Morley (Norfolk) and 14th August at Shepton Mallet, with bacon baps, hot drinks, and time to meet the MGA team.
On 15th July 2025, MGA has partnered with AHDB to host a maize-focused summer event at Steanbow Farms in Somerset. This day will feature trial site tours, demonstrations, food, and discussions about maize in crop rotations. Booking details are provided in this issue.
Looking ahead, the MGA Conference 2026 will take place on 4–5 February 2026 in Hinckley, Leicestershire. Day one includes farm visits and diversification insights, followed by a conference dinner. Day two will be held at the Hinckley Island Hotel, with trade stands and a full programme of talks. Sponsorship opportunities and trade stand spaces are already open, with limited availability.
This edition also includes a call for help from NIAB for members to send in samples of maize eyespot for research.
Finally, the MGA announces the launch of a new website later this month, featuring a modernised design, improved member login, direct booking for events, and a blog for regular updates.
